October Walking Weekend – CONFIRMED The Waterhead Inn – Ambleside
The Waterhead Inn, Lake Road, Ambleside, LA22 0ER
The booking has been made either as Dinner, Bed & breakfast for 2 nights, or alternatively, booked as bed & breakfast only.
For those including dinner in their booking, the reservation includes a £30 per person, per night dinner allowance.
The group has dinner booked on Friday for 6.30pm and 7.00pm on Saturday.
Any charges in excess of that dinner limit MUST be settled by the individual member by charging to their room or settled on the night. All additional charges must be settled before check out.
Parking is available at hotel but bays are reported to be tight. Parking is also available at the sister hotel, Wateredge Inn. If the hotel car park is full a long stay public car park is available next to the hotel on Borrans Road. At the current time parking is paid prior to departure.
No packed lunch provided on Saturday. Fend for yourselves but plenty of shops in the town centre.

Route: Starting from the hotel, up through Skelghyll Wood, High Skelghyll, Skelghyll Lane and back via Holbeck Lane.
Distance: 4.5 miles with 800 ft of ascent.

Shorter Walk
Starting from the hotel at 10.00am.
Route: Hotel, Rothay Park, Scandale Bridge, Coffin Route to Grasmere.
Return to Ambleside by bus (for those eligible remember to bring your bus pass).
Distance: 5 miles with 550 ft. of ascent

Middle Walk
Starting from Hayes Garden Centre at 10.00am.
Route: Hayes Garden Centre, Rothay Bridge, Miller Brow, Loughrigg summit, Loughrigg Terrace, return via minor road to Ambleside
Distance: 7 miles with 1,300 ft. of ascent

Longer Walk (Very Strenuous)
Fairfield Horseshoe (HIGHLY WEATHER DEPENDENT)
Meet at the bus stop opposite the car park a short distance past Hayes Garden Centre on Lake Road in plenty of time to catch the 9.10am 555 Stagecoach sevice for a five minute journey to Rydal Church.
Route: Rydal, Nab Scar, Heron Pike, Great Rigg, Fairfield, Hart Crag, Dove Crag, High Pike, Low Pike, Ambleside. (8 Wainrights).
Distance: 10.5 miles with 3,200ft of ascent

ALTERNATIVE: Wansfell Pike from Hotel, 7 miles with 2,000 ft. of ascent.
