Cycling

The cycling is usually between 25-35 miles in length and seeks to avoid any significant climbing. They therefore often take advantage of the extensive network of disused railways across the North East or designated cycle routes. The cycle rides are such that even those with limited recent cycling experience should be able to complete without great difficulty. Again refreshments are taken throughout the days cycling.

Sunday rides usually start from Boldon Community Association or nearby locations starting between 9.30 and 10.00am. The numbers participating usually do not exceed 10. Usually we take a packed lunch.

Our local destinations have included the Seahouses, Millennium Bridge, Newburn, Haswell, St. Mary’s Lighthouse and Blyth. Occasional rides are organised requiring transport to the start point.

We dip our wheels in the sea at Sunderland at the end of our w2w cycling challenge.
