Sunday Bus Walks – Aysgarth, North Yorks.

Longer Walk 

Route: Aysgarth, Aysgarth Moor, Thornton Rust, Worton Bridge, Woodhall, Oxclose Gate, Bolton Castle (not Castle Bolton, turning back before we reach village) Carperby, Aysgarth Falls.

Distance: 13 miles with  1,150 ft. of ascent.

Description: Walk is over carpeted grassy fields -tracks -roads- valleys.  This is a beautiful walk with some fabulous views ending at Aysgarth falls

Middle Walk 

Route: Aysgarth. St Josphs wood, Hollins House, Brunton Bank , Castle Bolton, Carperby, Ponderledge Scar, Woodhall, Aysgarth

Distance: 10.5 miles with 1,100 ft. of ascent.

The walk starts in the car park opposite the Aysgarth Falls Hotel. From there, we follow the road down to the impressive Yore Bridge, where there are views of part of Aysgarth Falls. We then enter Freeholders Wood, continuing into St Joseph’s Wood, with the river running below us on the right.

Leaving the woodland behind, the route crosses open grassland and climbs steadily towards the striking ruins of Bolton Castle. From here, we continue west, descending towards the village of Carperby. After passing through the village, the path climbs up to Ponderledge Scar, where we follow the north side of the valley towards Woodhall. From Woodhall, we turn east  passing Lady Hill and follow the river back to Aysgarth,

Shorter Walk 

Route: Aysgarth, Yore Bridge, Visitor Centre, Carperby, West Bolton, Castle Bolton, Low Bolton, High Thoresby, Aysgarth Falls, Aysgarth Falls Hotel.

Distance: 8 Miles with 800 ft. of ascent.

Description: The walk comprises field walking, paths and tracks.
