Sunday Bus Walk – Middleton-in-Teesdale, County Durham

Longer Walk
Route: Forest-In-Teesdale, Wat Garth, Cronkley Pasture, Merrygill, Cronkley Fell, Birk Rigg, Low Currick Rigg, Holwick Scars, River Tees ( Pennine Way), Middleton-in-Teesdale.
Distance: 12.5 Miles with 1,200 ft. of ascent.
A picturesque walk taking in the River Tees and the Scars around Cronkley Fell and Holwick, there are grand views from the top of Cronkley Fell, right along the Tees valley and on a good day Cross Fell and many others are to be seen. It is an undulating walk and there are two burns to be crossed via stepping stones.

Middle Walk
Route: Middleton in Teesdale, riverside walk up past Low Force to Holwick Head, then crossing the river and down to Bowlees Visitor centre, Hood Gill, Hill Cottage, Mount Pleasant, Low Revelin House, Tinkler’s Allotment, Skears Plantation, Middleton-in-Teesdale.
Distance: 10.5 miles with 1,200 ft. of ascent.
A riverside walk up past Low Force to Holwick Head, from which we cross over the river back to Bowlees Visitor Centre. Then some field and lane walking before crossing over into the next valley with a spectacular autumnal finish through Skears Plantation.

Route: Middleton in Teesdale, Teesdale Way, Egglesburn Farm, New Town, Eggleston, Romaldkirk, Tees Railway Path, Middleton in Teesdale.
Distance: 10 miles with 850 ft. of ascent.
Circular walk with some field and road walking, riverside and railway paths.
