Distance: 9 Miles with 1,000 ft. of ascent.

Route: Newbrough (Town Hall), Thornton Tower, Carr Edge, Hadrians’s Wall, Brocolita (Mithras Temple), North Plantation, Back Lane Wood, St Peter’s Church, Newbrough.

Description: A walk involving fells, byways, and footpaths, from Newbrough heading for Hadrian’s Wall past historic properties and medieval remains.

We will stop and look at the monument to Baden Powells scout camp which celebrated the centenary.

Then along Hadrian’s Wall to Brocolita and the Temple of Mithras finishing with a look at the Church of St Peter’s (consecrated 1170 AD).
